There are so many things we could say about our visit to Rincon, and I don’t think any of them would really do this sleepy little surf town justice.
We had two perfect days to enjoy the beautiful beaches, spectacular sunsets, and incredible scuba that the West Coast has to offer, and it still didn’t feel like enough.
We spent our first evening enjoy burgers, beers and fish tacos at the beach bar which offers the ideal location to spot the sunset over the Caribbean Sea. Relaxation at its best!
If you’re Scuba certified or are anxious to learn. You need to check out Taino Divers. They are the go-to guys to dive with in Rincon and will for a very reasonable price, outfit you and take you out to dive the waters of Desecheo Island.
Desecheo is a National Wildlife Refuge and while it is illegal to step foot on the Island, exploring the world under the waters around it is well worth the trip. If you’re not a diver thats no problem at all- Taino Divers offers a discover scuba program where you can ( under supervision) test out your skills with an instructor or you can just pay to snorkel along on the surface. No matter what you chose to do, the only thing that will disappoint you is if you chose not to go at all! Or maybe your dinosaur of an original go-pro that decides no to work during your dive ( explanation: to why there are zero photos of all the awesome caves and critters we saw during our dives!)
The ONLY photos we have from our dives. Lesson learned, time to buy a new Go-Pro
Rincon is often called the surf capital of the Caribbean because of its incredible season breaks. There wasn’t an awful lot of surf-able waves during our visit, but that didn’t keep us away from the beaches.
Because of the heavy influence of the surf and yoga culture in Rincon, the community is laid back and super artsy- we really dug it! You’ll find creativity around every corner.

While we were there we stumbled on a small local art market in the heart of the town where we picked up some local art goodies and a few gifts for friends for the holidays.
Even the coffee in Rincon comes with a little art & inspiration!
Although our few days in Rincon were as near to perfect as we could have hoped for, we still left wishing we had, had more time. Our thoughts as we headed back to San Juan and the waiting plane that would take us home-
Rincon was our last overnight stop on our epic trip around Puerto Rico. But we couldn’t resist one two last quick stops along the road back to San Juan- Crash Boat Beach & Las Cuevas De Indios
