And Making It Out Alive
With a couple of years, and thousands of miles of travel under our belts, we’ve learned a thing or two about how to make the most out of our travels. Wether you’re planning on traveling for a weekend, a week, a month or you’re in it for the long haul. Here’s 15 of our top travel tips to make it all go smoothly!
1. Learn To Laugh Instead Of Cry
Things will go wrong, that’s a guarantee, but how you approach it, is your choice.
3. Always Pack A Bathing Suit
You never know when the opportunity to take a dip will present itself, but when it does you’ll want to be ready. The one rule we live by, always go swimming. No matter what.
4. Stick To Your Budget
Travel should make your life better, not drag you into debt. So, you might not be able to eat at the fanciest place in town, who cares! Budgets help you prioritize your experiences and take the stress out of the day to day.
5. Use Common Sense
The world is generally a safe place, and people are good. But your safety is ultimately your own responsibility. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.
6. Respect The Locals
As a traveler you are a guest in someone else’s home, literally. A little research into the local language, customs and cultures can go a long way.
7. You Can Never Take Too Many Photos
The best souvenirs are the memories you take with you from the experience. Photos, even the blurry ones are tangible memories of those special moments.
9. Get A Good Travel Credit Card
Access to airport lounges, hotel upgrades, and points for free air travel are just some of the perks of having one or two of these types of cards. Quick word of caution… if you can’t pay them off every month, the debt you’ll incur isn’t worth the benefits.
10. Do What Makes YOU Happy
Comparison is the greatest kill joy there is. You’re traveling for you. Chase the experiences that light up your soul. This is your journey, no one else’s, it doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else as long as you are happy.
11. Smile At Strangers
You just might make a new friend!
12. Make A Plan But Stay Flexible
A good plan will go a long ways into helping you make the most of your travels. But you can’t plan for everything, good and bad, staying flexible allows you room for spontaneous adventures, and unexpected twists!
13. Eat Local, Eat Fearless
Food is one of the biggest expressions of culture, try the local foods even if they seem strange. Tip 5 applies here!
